Systems and Methods for Extending the Domain of Biometric Template Protection Algorithms from Integer-Valued Feature Vectors to Real-Valued Feature Vectors


Although the use of biometric data for identity management and verification has become a preferred  security protocol in recent years, it remains vulnerable to manipulation and theft. Biometric data requires protection at every step in the process , starting from the collection point where positive identification of the subject is critical, to the endpoint where the stored data can be used for identity authenticaion and validation. FAU has developed a technology that shields biometric data at different stages in both collection and use via simple and intuitive transformation techniques. The technology allows the domain of biometric template protection algorithms to be extended from integer valued feature vectors to real valued feature vectors. This helps to not only enhance overall data security, but also increase resistance to fraud.
